City
Simulation
This is large scale
city simulation database created at Presagis. The database
contains at least two large cites, port and industrial
regions as well as streets, lights and an airport. The
imagery is geotypical generated with Presagis SEGen
and based on VMAP vector data. I helped create the database,
model many of the buildings, cars, airfield ground textures
as well as enhancing the ground vector shape file data
and road network.

Mission
Training & Rehearsal
This screen shot I took
was of a large database which was originally built for
the US Army through the Synthetic Environment Core (SE
Core). Terrain, imagery and buildings are all accurate
to the real world location and all buildings at this
MOUT site are enterable and interactive. The database
was optimized and then converted to the new VBS2 database
format allowing for all of the mission editing tools
and other features offered in its gaming engine. The
primary tools used were a combination of COTS (Consumer
off the shelf) terrain software products by ESRI and
Presagis as well as the VBS2 Virtual Toolkit created
by Bohemia Interactive.

MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain)
After collecting a great
deal of photo source from this well-known location (in a 98 degree summer) I
was able to create this MOUT site using Presagis Creator
and Terra Vista. All buildings are geospecific--meaning
an exact representation of a real world feature. They
have accurate texturing and the terrain is a combination
of 1 meter imagery and texture I created in Adobe Photoshop.
This was built to be run on a Quantum3D Independence™
Image Generator (IG) using their Mantis™ runtime software.

I've assisted the CAE
SE Core team on several exciting and advanced database
programs. Please feel free to read more about the SE
Core strategies and programs at the PEO-STRI

VBS2
Database Development
In VBS2™, the latest
military grade training program based on Bohemia Interactive's
computer games, participants operate as virtual entities
that may use personal weapons, drive vehicles, operate
weapons stations, fly aircraft and even board and pilot
ships. Any weapon platform or sensor, from UAVs and
ground surveillance radar through to artillery can be
modeled to varying degrees of fidelity in the flexible
VBS2™ game engine.
We at CAE USA Professional
Services were privileged to have our database appear
on the cover of Army Aviation magazine.

Training
Simulations
This was a development project where we were able to take existing data in the standard real-time formats and synergize it with Forterra's existing On-Line Virtual Environment (OLIVE).

Synthetic
Environment Core
I assisted with the
production of multiple SE Core databases. I was lucky
enough to help with multiple aspects of the production
process including the following:
• Digitizing GIS vectors
of man-made and natural features
• Setting up and running
test builds and validation support
• Modeling and texturing
geotypical and geospecific culture models
• Loading and flying
the database on the target IG (Rockwell Collins EPX™-50)
